23/02/2003 Last night, we went out for a meal at an Irish-American restaurant, called
Bennigans. I got served my first alcoholic beverage! A nice, cold, pint of draft
Guinness!. It was with a meal, but I didn't get IDd! We came back to the hotel and earlier, my mam and dad had found out that the receptionist was English and had moved over to USA. So I asked her if she knew where to go to find accomodation. I wasn't expecting her to ring round all of her friends to know if they would know, but I guess she had nothing better to do. Then it was off to bed, but not with her obviously!
24/02/2003 I got up at 8:00am (13:00 GMT) and had breakfast, which consisted of "Frosted Flakes" , yoghurt, vanilla coffee and cranberry juice (which I'm told is very good for you!). We left the hotel and drove to Malden. On our way we saw some Trailer Park's full of Trailer Park Trash! We parked up outside the YMCA again and went inside to see the accomodation officer. But he was busy so we asked the receptionist a few questions. We didn't find much and so went down the street to go to a "Realty Estate" (Estate Agents). The lady in there was really helpful and said she'd get back to us. She also said not to stay at the YMCA in Malden, because it's dodgy! So we went to the library, stopping on the way at a "Cellphone" Shop, where I asked a guy named George about Pay As You Go sim cards. It's really weird, you have to pay in advance to get free minutes. He also told me not to stay at the YMCA, but didn't know anywhere else to look. I asked him about the latest phones that were out in America. The latest one was that
Ericsson with the colour screen and the joystick (Sam, from my old school's old phone) the T68i, which came out about 1.5 years ago! We found a few ads in the papers in the library, then went into Boston via the T-Line. We went to
Harvard which was quite plush, to check on the Housing Office, but they were no help. We also went to the
Massachussetts Institute of Technology Uni, but they were also no help. We had a nice lunch at a Chinese and I considered entering the Miss Harvard competition, but I'm not a student there so I couldn't. We had a look at the Boston sky-line from across the Charles River and then came back and picked up the car. We also got some local papers and I'm gonna contact some people now. Speak to you later!
