03/03/2003 I decided to go to the Boston Public Library so I could get on the internet and email you guys! Boston Public Library is a huge building in Copley Square, it's quite close to the Prudential building which, if you remember, is the huge one that my parents and I sat at the top of. The library's got some amazing pictures and two massive statues of lions, which commemorate the death of some American soldiers. How pleasant. It's also got marble staircases and, surprisingly, thousands of books! One of the room's is called the "Abbey Room" and it has pictures showing the Quest for the Holy Grail. But i think they're fake, because I can't see any flying cows on them. They need to do some research. It's got loads and loads of name's carved into the side of the building, like Einstein, Socrates and Homer (not Simpson, although I think he should be on there). So I spent most of the day in the library, trying to work out where to go for the internet and just generally looking around. There are these 15 minute internet stations which are constantly in use and then you can book an hour on some different PCs.
04/03/2003 I got up late on Tuesday and headed off for the library again, before going to wrestling. As I had apparently only registered for a visitors pass yesterday, I went to the desk and asked to be signed up for a proper one, because I had some proof that I was living in Boston. So they gave me a form to fill out, except it was the same one as yesterday. It turned out that someone had made a mistake and I had actually signed up for a full pass. Stupid Americans. Wrestling was really good, I learnt some more grapple moves and ways to get out of the "hammerlock". Walter (Kowalski) told us a story of when he was going into a restaurant ages ago and 3 business men were coming out. One of them said "Hey, you're Killer Kowalski! Wrestling's fake!". So Walter turned to the other 2 and said "Get behind him, he's gonna fall" and grabbed the guy's ankle and pushed the bloke's shin with his thumb. The guy fell on his arse and Walter walked inside. He did it on me and it really does work. So after he showed us how to make it look more real. You drop down onto your front and grab the opponents ankle with both hands. Then you shove you're shoulder into their shin.
05/03/2003 I went to sign up for the gym and stopped off on the way to book some time on the net at the library. I told the guy at the desk that I wanted to join the gym and he sat down with me and started to explain the different packages. He said he'd knock off the $149.95 (95 quid) registering fee, so it was only $29.95 (19 quid) per month. Which I agreed to and he went to put it on my debit card. When he came back he asked me if I'd been to the gym before. I told him I had last week just to enquire about the fees. The gym have a policy where they knock of the registering fee if you sign up the first time you go into the building. He hadn't asked me if I had been before or not, so they had to let it go. But I'd spoken to the assistant manager the week before, so the guy got into a bit of trouble. Not much though. So, basically I got away with it!
06/03/2003 I got up and waited for Mam and Dad to call. I didn't have enough time to go out before they rang, so I watched a Knight's Tale instead. It's a good film. They rang at 14:30 (19:30 GMT) and then I went to wrestling. Slyk had gone on a tour of the UK so another guy took his place. I can't remember his name, but he does some shows with Slyk. I practiced the moves I'd already learnt and did quite well i think. The harddest part is remembering what moves to do when you're in certain holds and not repeating the same thing more than once. It can be difficult, but I write down the moves I've learnt and then go over them so I know which ones I can do. When I got in from wrestling, I had something to eat and then sat down and watched "The Godfather" with Frederik and Hierro. I think that's what his name is anyway! I enjoyed the film. It was a bit weird in places, but overall good. I was exhausted by the time it had finished, because it's a really long film, so I just went to bed.
