14/03/2003
07/03/2003 - 12/03/2003 Silly me forgot to write down what I'd done over the past week, so I'll give you a kinda run down of what's happened. Or what I can remember anyway. I was walking to the T Station from the house and a little dog ran up to me. So I stopped and stroked it (because I'm So nice). Then I continued walking and it started to follow me. I saw a lady getting some shopping out of her car about 20m up the road and she had her front door open so I guessed the dog had come from there. So I walked past the house expecting it to stop when it got there, except it didn't and it continued to follow me. The lady turned around after shutting the car door and I asked her if it was her dog. It turned out that it was her's and the dog ran inside the house after her daughter called it in. I was just about to continue walking after my good deed, but the lady noticed I was English and started to talk to me about it. Then she said:
"You must see alot of those dog's in England."
I was a bit confused at this, so I replied:
"I'm not really sure, what kind is it?"
It turned out it was some sort of a terrier, but her next comment struck me as a bit... well... i dunno, judge for yourself:
"They're the grey and white ones."
I felt like saying oh yes! those dogs! Of course, I see loads of them. Sorry I didn't recognise it seeing as it wasn't grey and white!
As it was, I just told her that I didn't know much about dogs and eventually managed to get to the tube station without a little (cute) yapping puppy dragging along on my trousers!
Me, Frederik (Swedish) and Sergio (Italian - 2 of my housemates) went looking for a bar in Harvard Square. We guessed there would be some there, because the university's there. But after 20 minutes of walking down Massachusettes Avenue in -10 weather, we decided to leave it and went home. We hired out My Big Fat Greek Wedding which was OK, but not as funny as it was made out to be in my opinion.
And that's all I can remember, about from going to the gym. Wrestling has gone OK. I mainly went over the stuf I'd already learnt, which I don't mind, because it sets it in my memory. What i find difficult is remembering what moves to do, so practicing makes it easier.
13/03/2003 I went to the local library to go on the internet. It's about 100m up the road, which is easier than going into the center of Boston. Also, there's not many people in there, so I can hopefully get longer on the internet. I only published a few days on the site, because I didn't have time before I had to go back to the house. Mam and dad rang and I spoke to them before going to wrestling. Apparently the clock's go forward by 1 hour on the 30th of March (Mother's Day), but it's only in the UK for some reason. It snowed pretty much all day and settled on everything but the roads. So all the areas where the snow had melted are now covered in snow again!
There was only the usual guys and Walter (Kowalski) there. Walter showed us some moves like the Kowalski Arm Drag and the "Kowalski Knee Drop". The arm drag is quite simple. You grab the opponents left arm with both of yours, step back and turn, falling onto your front. Your opponent falls next to you and you still have his/her arm which you can then hit etc! The knee drop's pretty simple aswell, except only Walter can do it (or used to be able to do it) and he gets angry when people wince, because it hurts The reason he can do it and we can't, is because he has bigger feet than us. I think he's 6'7" tall or something. What you're supposed to do, is land on your knee and toes so that there's enough space for your opponents knee not to get crushed. But, if you haven't got big enough feet, there isn't enough gap, so you end up jumping and landing on his/her knee. So everyone got called a "Fake" whenever they winced in pain!
Once Walter left, some of the more experienced guys started a match and helped out when you didn't know how to do something. There's a few new guys, so I'm not alone! I kept screwing up one spot and I don't know why, but I eventually got it. After the match, we got out the crash mat and some of the guys started practicing moonsaults. I decided I wanted to try one and so up I went onto the second rope and did it first time! One of the guys is 15 and he was jokingly annoyed that I'd done it, so he challenged me to do it off of the bottom rope, which I also did first time! Then he challenged me to do a corkscrew, which I did too! Again first time. So I was quite chuffed with myself! Next up, Shooting Star Press!!!
15/03/2003 I was going to go to the gym, but me, Frederik, Sergio and Ingo decidede to go to the cinema in the evening and have a meal first, which meant I didn't have enough time. Instead I went to the library and updated my website a bit and put in the all new moves page, which lists all of the moves I've learnt. Or it will do when I have time to finish it! This means that I don't have to keep explaining them, or you don't have to try and remember them! It's win-win! It gives them a difficulty rating too. I met Ingo at the house and we went to Kendall tube station to meet the others. When we got off the train they were waiting on the platform for us, so we got back on the same train and went to Copley which is where the main Boston library is too. We went to a restaurant called Pizzeria Uno, where I got shrimp and steak. Ingo had a pizza which looked more like a pie and not very appealing. They seem to be relaxed about drinking in restaurants, so i had a pint of Budweiser and a bottle of Killians Irish Red. After we had eaten, we went to the cinema and saw Lord of the Rings: The Twin Towers. It was quite good and I would have enjoyed it more if the seat hadn't been made out of stone. It's not the shortest film and to be sitting on a hard seat throughout it wasn't easy! The room was really small too. It was about the size of a football penalty area and instead of having stadium seating, the floor sloped up slightly towards the screen. We went to Boston's main nightclub area, but I didn't get in. I was really close and the bouncer almost let me in until his boss came back. Oh well!
I awoke to a text from teletext informing me that Sunderland were 1-0 down to Bolton after 50 miutes. What a way to start the day! By the time I'd got downstairs, 5 minutes later, I got another text. 2-0 down Me, Frederik and Ingo cooked bacon and eggs for breakfast. 1lb of bacon and 10 eggs. We left the other 1lb of bacon and 8 eggs for tomorrow. Sergio came down and helped us eat it! I'm going to get some sausages, tomatoes and mushrooms to make a proper fry up for tomorrow, before Sergio makes us a typical Italian lunch.
Wrestling went well. At the start we did some knee drops like the ones Walter showed us, except ones that didn't hurt. Some of the older guys who work shows took the class at the beginning. We also went over running into the turnbuckle. Then we had a match which went OK. I'm still finding it hard to piece together the moves, but that comes with practice.
Walter talked to me about nutrition. He's a vegetarian and gets all of his protein from almonds and walnuts. He never drinks anything for half an hour before his meal and for three hours after. He never drinks coffee or alcohol and drinks water only at room temperature. For breakfast he has grapes, pineapple, apple, almonds and walnuts all blended in together. It was intersting to listen to. He also said that he never speaks while he's having a meal. Everything he does is routine. Then he started to talk about auras and spirits and things... That evening I watched Congo and then went to bed.
16/03/2003 I made a fry up for the unfortunate non English guests. They're not dead yet, so all is well for the moment! On the way out to wrestling, I saw Sergio for the last time. He's going back to Italy. There was a St Patricks day parade on so the T stations were much busier than normal. Everyone was wearing something green. It was colourful to say the least!
We got the crash mat out and practiced moonsaults with Apocolypse. A 318lb guy. I wouldn't like to take a moonsault from him! I did some from the 2nd rope and 1st rope straight onto the ring. No mat. It's quite tough, but not that bad. We also noticed that the ring is breaking, so I dunno what's gonna happen but they'll sort something out! It's not imiment! We did some warm ups and ran the ropes then practiced a move called the Se7en. It's good except we all agreed Brad Pitt can't act!
